Short Biography

Born on the 25th of March 1963 in Zürich (Switzerland).
From 1983 until 1989 I studied at the faculty of "Forest Sciences" of the "Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH)" at Zürich, where I obtained the diploma as Forest Engineer. During this period I made twice 6 month of practical at two regional forest services.
For the next 5 years I was engaged as a scientific employee at the "Section of Forest Inventory and Planning", where I introduced the use of "Geographic Information Systems (GIS)" for forest inventory and planning purposes within the context of the project "Optimisation of Forest Inventories".
Later I was the leader of the project "Conception of a Forest Information System".
Since October 1996 I am employed by the "Swiss Federal Institute of Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL)", where I carry out most activities, such as testing within the Web4Groups-project.
